Important notes:
-
- Heavily soiled or greasy leather areas (e.g., collars, cuffs, lapels) should first be soaked in a hand bath and carefully pre-treated with leather detergent and a soft brush.
- Discoloration may occur with multicolored leathers, leather-textile combinations, or light-colored linings paired with dark leather. In such cases, always use Leather Fixativ.
- Do not wash leather items of different colors together—only treat items of the same color together.
- Existing signs of wear or fading may become more visible after cleaning—this is normal.
- Some types of leather (e.g., poorly fixed dyes or greasy surfaces) may change after washing.
- Loose buttons or appliqués should be secured or washed by hand.
- Hides may harden due to washable tanning—first wash a small piece as a test.
- Professional cleaning is recommended for exotic leathers, delicate tanning, furs, or antique one-of-a-kind items.
Instructions for using Leather Fixativ
- Do not use in the washing machine; use in a tub or bowl instead.
Dosage:
-
- ½ bottle of fixative to approx. 5–10 liters of lukewarm water (for individual parts)
- Entire bottle, e.g., for a complete motorcycle suit
- Completely submerge the leather item, soak for at least 60 minutes, and agitate regularly.
- Then let it drain—do not rinse—and place it directly into the washing machine.
Tip:
- Test on an inconspicuous area first: Rub the leather several times with a slightly damp, light-colored cloth. If the cloth becomes discolored, the fixative must be applied.
- If the fixative solution does not discolor, you may be able to skip it during the next wash.

- e.g., motorcycle suit or large coat: use the entire bottle
- Soak leather items for about 30 minutes and wash gently
- For heavy soiling: use a leather brush

Machine wash using Leather & Fur Wash Concentrate
Suitable for the delicate or wool cycle (max. 35°C).
Also suitable for leather-textile combinations.
Dosage:
- Depending on the size: Add 1/3–½ bottle to the main wash compartment
- Large items (e.g., motorcycle suit): use the entire bottle
Washing instructions:
- Wash on the wool or delicate cycle at a maximum of 35°C
- Spin dry only (if possible); otherwise, remove before the spin cycle
- After washing, shake out any wrinkles and let air dry
- It is best to dry heavy items flat on towels
Important:
- Do not tumble dry or expose to direct sunlight
- Drying may take several days
- While drying, knead the leather several times while it is still slightly damp—this preserves its suppleness
- Once completely dry, rub the leather vigorously lengthwise and crosswise
- Alternatively: Turn the item inside out and tumble dry on the cold cycle for 15–30 minutes without heat
Nubuck and suede leather:
After drying, brush carefully to restore the characteristic surface
