Description & Recommended use
Leather Fresh is a base for creating an individual water-based tint that is suitable for refreshing and re-tinting slightly faded leathers.
For car leather:
Ask your dealer for the exact color name using the VIN. It is important that you are given a color name and not a color code. Unfortunately, we cannot determine a color tone on the basis of models and years of manufacture.
For furniture leather:
You can find the color of your furniture on the invoice from the furniture store. If the color is not available or you no longer have the invoice, it is better to send us a sample.
Application instructions
Important: Please test all products on a concealed area first to rule out any undesirable changes to the leather. The leather should also be dry and free of dirt and grease before dyeing.
Dyeing with Leather Fresh - color refreshment for your leather
Step 1:
Use the Leather Cleaner to pre-clean the leather in the area of the intact color. The Leather Cleaner is excellent at removing normal soiling. If these are mainly in the grain of light-colored leathers, then you should definitely use our soft brush.
Tip: A sponge and brush are the best helpers when cleaning. Remove cleaning residues with a cloth lightly moistened with water.
Step 2:
Use the Degreaser to degrease the areas to be repaired and remove old care product residues that the Leather Cleaner does not dissolve. This is important to ensure that the color refreshment with Leather Fresh adheres well. Always degrease the skin contact area in particular before applying Leather Fresh.
Tip: If in doubt as to whether it has been sufficiently degreased, stick masking tape to the surface and if it is difficult to remove when pulling off, the leather is well degreased.
Step 3:
Any areas that have become rough due to wear must be smoothed with the Sanding Pad before repairing or tinting. To do this, place the sanding pad on the damaged area and sand the area smooth again without applying too much pressure.
Tip: Remove the sanding dust with a cloth moistened with Degreaser.
Step 4:
Then re-tint the color damage with the leather color freshener (Leather Fresh) in a matching color and dry with a hair dryer. The Leather Fresh will not stain the clothing after drying.
The tint refreshes the color of scratches, abrasions, signs of wear and tear and dry breaks.
You must shake the Leather Fresh well before use and never apply it directly to the leather, but in a circular or dabbing motion using a sponge. For larger areas, you can work from seam to seam. In areas where an opaque coloration is required, the tint must be dabbed on several times and dried with a hair dryer (not too hot!).
Tip: An uneven application can be evened out again with the Sanding Pad and re-tinted.
Step 5:
Finally, you should care for and protect your leather. It is important that you only carry out this step one day after tinting. The Leather Fresh should be completely dry before it comes into contact with any liquid, and the care product should be applied gently and not rubbed in vigorously.
Use Leather Care to maintain and preserve the result. Leather Care protects the leather by regreasing (keeps the leather soft), UV filters (prevents fading) and antioxidants (prevents decay).
Apply Leather Shield to the seat/stress area a few days after Leather Care. This will reduce wear and color loss due to friction in this area. Leather Shield also reduces abrasion caused by hand and skin oils and perspiration in the skin contact area and protects the leather against this. We particularly recommend this product for light-colored leathers, as it also protects against discoloration caused by contact with dark materials.
Tip: First spread the care product sparingly on a cloth and then apply to the leather in a circular motion from seam to seam. Excess care can be removed with a cloth slightly moistened with water. Regular and sparing cleaning and care will prolong the life of your leather!
Tip: If the color application is uneven, you can carefully even it out with a sanding pad and then retint. You can also use our Leather Fresh on artificial leather and plastics without any problems.
Important: Leather Fresh is only suitable for refreshing the color on small areas. We recommend using COLOURLOCK Stitch Covering Gel 20 ml for seams with different colors.
